EllisReserveNHS
And now the final leg of the tour, the CP National Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky. Our group may be small, but they were mighty!
Playlist “Ellis” and Shelley got the ball rolling with a win in the Green Conformation Model and continued on to be Reserve Champions in the division. Playlist was also piloted to several great ribbons in the Amateur Owner 3’3” Hunter division by Alexandra Zell, including a 3rd place in the Stake class!
Papyrus “Birdy” and Bailey continued to prove unbeatable. They capped off their incredible streak by not only earning Championship honors in the Large Junior Hunter 16 – 17 division, but won the Grand Large Junior Hunter Championship as well. What an unbelievable indoors circuit they’ve had! Congratulations!!

International Jumping Festival – September 16-20, 2015

The feature event this week was the USEF Talent Search West Coast Final. KERA MCCANDLESS flew down to participate, and we had a lot of fun suiting up her NINYA 2 as an equitation horse. The finals are set up in a way that introduces young riders to the format of a show jumping championship event. For instance, the speakers at the rider’s meeting emphasized the importance of the rider’s utilization of each phase to better their horses in preparation to jump clear rounds in the final phase (much like a rider preparing their horse for a Nations Cup event). The top four horses jogged in an FEI format before the testing, where each rider would navigate the course on the other competitors’ horses.
This class is an important part of developing the future talent of our show jumping sport, and we were so excited to see Kera involved and participating with some of the best young riders on the West Coast.

Congratulations to all of our ribbon winners this week:

Blenheim Fall Tournament – September 9-13, 2015

We followed the USHJA Children’s and Adult West Coast Regional Championship to beautiful San Juan Capistrano for the Blenheim Fall Tournament. We were all loving the sunshine, and the whole team even got to make a trip to the beach on Monday to surf (or make your best attempt). We are hoping to come back next year!
Some horse-showing highlights included:
Our Zone IX Adult Amateur Team (comprised of LESLIE COX, KATHERINE WILLIAMS, SAMANTHA CRISTY, and NANCY BUTANO) were team silver medalists with Catherine as chef d’equipe. It was very close at the end, with only one point separating team gold from silver… the suspense! Congratulations, team!
SAMANTHA CRISTY and her BELLA DONNA (the pair trains with Megan Chagnon) were bronze medalists in the Individual Final. Thanks for travelling down here to participate!
MUSKETEER and LESLIE COX, no strangers to success, were champions this week in the Adult Amateur Jumper.
Aislinn Lamoreaux’s CERAFINA jumped in her first Grand Prix this week with Jeff, and was sensational! She finished 9th with an unlucky rail in the first round. We were very, very proud of her :)
