Oz kicked off the outdoor show season at the Oregon Trail in Wilsonville, where we had yet another fabulous week of horse showing. Puppet won the First Year Green Championship with Shelley, and later won the Children’s Hunter 13 & Under tri-color with owner Katherine Dash. Maggie Dennis’s Greyscale took home the Performance Hunter 3’6” Championship with Shelley, and Lexie Grant’s Rendition, also ridden by Shelley, earned the Small Hunter Championship. Worth the Wait captured both of his divisions, which were the Training Hunters with Shelley, and the Pre-Children’s Hunter Horse with Ethan John. Shelley rode Diane Laycoe’s Perseverance and Korina Winkler’s Argentinus to sweep the Pre-Green division. Domination continued with Alexandra Ulmer and Bailey Smith, as they captured the Equitation 15 & Under division. Bailey’s winning streak continued with Padarco Dolce, as they were named Champion in the Junior Hunter division. David Robinson’s Galabea 3 won the 1.10m Jumper Championship with Jeff, and later won the Reserve Championship with Vivian Keller in the Equitation 16-17. David’s other horse, Desert Crown, earned the tri-color in the 1.20m Jumper, with David in the irons. Shawna Dash rode her Pirouette to the Championship in the Adult Equitation, and also took the Reserve Championship ribbon in the Amateur Owner Hunters 3’3”. Jane Hood and Adrianna had a fantastic week, winning the Reserve Championship in both the Long Stirrup Hunters and the Long Stirrup Equitation. Tara rode Alexandra Ulmer’s Wembley to the Reserve Championship in the Conformation Hunter division, and also took Lauren Worland’s First Lady to the Reserve Championship in the Baby Greens. The Adult Amateurs had a terrific week, as Exposure and Alexandra Zell earned the 50 & Over title, while Kate Williams guided Oz Investment’s Adam 12 to the Reserve Championship in the 31-49 section. Emily Perkins and her own Barcelona took home the Pony Working Hunter Champion ribbon, Alexandra Majer and Zara II won the Reserve Championship in the High Children’s Jumper, and Blue Meadows’ Musketeer and Kaylee Cox won the Reserve Championship in the Modified Junior/Amateur Jumper. Individual class winners include Bailey Smith in the OHJA Jr/Sr Medal, Vivian in the Team NW Medal, Kimberly Bruce and Kantos in the .75m Jumper, Bailey and her new mount, Loverboy, in the High Children’s Jumper, and Annie Paselk placed second in the OHJA Mini-Medal. In the Team NW Mini-Prix, Tami Majer’s new horse Casper finished third with Jeff, Zara II and Alexandra finished fourth, Musketeer and Kaylee placed seventh, and Shelley and Oz Investment’s Zaloubet placed eighth. In the 1.30m Jumper Classic, Samantha Ortman and her Magnun Rosetta had a stellar showing, helping them clinch the fourth place ribbon, followed by Oz Investment’s Apache Joe and Jeff in fifth. Bailey and Loverboy placed fourth in the Children’s Jumper Classic, and Shelley guided Exposure, Puppet, and Pirouette to the fourth, sixth, and seventh place finish respectfully, in the USHJA National Hunter Derby.
