Country Classic 2012

The Country Classic in Wilsonville, Oregon was a great show for both the hunters and the jumpers. Maggie Dennis’s Greyscale was Champion in both the Conformation Hunters and the Children’s Hunters 13 and Under with Shelley and Katherine Dash, respectfully. Emily Perkins and Barcelona were Champion in the Pony Equitation, and also won the OHJA Mini-Medal. Exposure and Alexandra Zell won the tri-color in the Adult Amateur Hunters, with Bryan Laycoe and Locaro Z taking the Reserve Champion ribbon. Oz swept the Pre-Green 3’3” division, with Pirouette and Shelley winning the Championship, and Argentinus and Tara Niculescu taking the Reserve. Pirouette was also Reserve Champion in the Amateur Owner Hunters 3’3” with owner Shawna Dash. Padarco Dolce took the Championships in the Performance Hunters 3’6” with Shelley, and the Junior Hunters 15 and Under with owner Bailey Smith. Worth the Wait had another great week, taking the top spot in the Pre-Children’s Hunters and the Pre-Children’s Equitation with Ethan John, along with the Reserve Championship in the Training Hunters 2’6” with Shelley. Shelley rode both Puppet, owned by Katherine Dash, and Rendition, owned by Lexie Grant, to the Reserve Championship in the Green Working Hunters and the Performance Hunters 3’3”, respectfully. On the jumper side, Tami Majer’s Cartiano Z and Oz Investment’s Zaloubet tied for the Championship in the 1.30m Jumpers, with Tami’s newest mount Camaran CR taking the Reserve Championship. Magnun Rosetta and Samantha Ortman were champion in the 1.30m Junior Amateur Jumpers, with David Robinson and his Desert Crown taking the Reserve Champion ribbon. Bailey Smith and Loverboy won the 1.15m Modified Junior Amateur Jumper division, and Alexandra Majer and Zara II were Reserve Champion in the 1.10m High Children’s Jumpers. In the Team NW Open Jumper Welcome, Oz Investment’s Apache Joe and Jeff took the top spot, followed by Cartiano Z in sixth. Similar results were displayed in the Team NW Jumper Classic, with Apache Joe taking third, and Cartiano Z made his first Grand Prix appearance with owner Tami Majer, taking sixth. Samantha Ortman and Magun Rosetta had a stellar performance in the Mini-Prix, topping the field, with Cartiano Z finishing fifth, Wyzard and Rebecca Fine taking sixth, and Hologram and Maggie Dennis in seventh. In the Derby Ring, Shelley and Exposure placed second overall in the USHJA International Hunter Derby, with Caviar and Tara in third, Puppet and Shelley in fifth, Padarco Dolce and Bailey in sixth, Greyscale and Shelley in ninth, Banning and Avery Worthington in tenth, and Stella and Tara in twelfth. Shelley and Exposure also took second in the WCHR Handy Hunter Classic, with Greyscale and Shelley placing third, Stella and Tara finishing seventh, and Paige Hamilton and Caviar in eighth. Lastly, Korina Winkler’s Argentinus and Shelley took seventh in the USHJA National Hunter Derby. Congratulations to all!
