The weather was fantastic and the competition was terrific. The schedule was filled with exciting classes and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shelley Campf<\/strong> topped the Hunter Divisions winning the <strong>Brad Laird Memorial Trophy<\/strong>that has been donated for years by <strong>Barrie Freeman<\/strong>. Barrie retired the trophy this year and Shelley was happy to be the last name on there.<strong> Costar<\/strong>, ridden by Shelley was <strong>Grand Champion<\/strong> for the high point hunter as a result of his championship in the <strong>Green Conformation<\/strong>. Costar was 3rd in both the USHJA International Hunter Derby and the WCHR Handy Hunter Classic as well.<\/p>\n<p>The hunters were good.\u00a0 In the <strong>Small Hunter<\/strong>, Shelley rode <strong>Rendition<\/strong> to the <strong>Championship<\/strong> and <strong>Kohala<\/strong> to the <strong>Reserve Champion<\/strong> honors. Shelley and <strong>Fremont<\/strong> were <strong>Champion<\/strong> in the <strong>Large<\/strong>. <strong>Colleen Biemer<\/strong> and <strong>Night Cap<\/strong> were <strong>Champion Large\u00a0Junior 16-17<\/strong>. <strong>Greyscale<\/strong> was Reserve Champion with Shelley in the <strong>Green Conformation<\/strong> and <strong>Sara Hin<\/strong>gson and <strong>Fremont<\/strong> tied for Champion in the Adult 18-30\u00a0but ended up Reserve Champion. <strong>Encore<\/strong> and Shelley had an uncharacteristically poor showing this week but still won a schooling class. Colleen and <strong>Penny Lane<\/strong> won in the Baby Green, Shelley and <strong>Legatus<\/strong> won in the Open Hunter, and <strong>Lexie Grant<\/strong> and <strong>Rendition<\/strong> won in the Children&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>The jumpers were hand picking their classes in an effort to peak at the correct time for the big classes.\u00a0 <strong>Jaimie Ackerman<\/strong> and <strong>Red Legend<\/strong> did just that topping the <strong>$3,000 Country Classic Speed<\/strong> on Saturday afternoon. <strong>Lea Snyder<\/strong> and <strong>Hakuna Matada<\/strong> were sensational in the <strong>$25,000 Grand Prix<\/strong> until and unfortunate loss of stirrup resulted in her horse bolting forward and ultimately stopping at the last jump.\u00a0 <strong>Shelley Campf<\/strong> rode <strong>London <\/strong>to a four fault score in the Grand Prix finishing 6th. <strong>Kantos<\/strong> and <strong>Madison Cameron<\/strong> were Champions in the 1.20 m and <strong>Stacy Jeter<\/strong> and <strong>Mr. Brightside<\/strong> won in the Low Adult.<\/p>\n<p>Our equitation riders made us proud.\u00a0 <strong>Sarah Hingson<\/strong> was <strong>Champion<\/strong> in the <strong>Adult Equitation<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Madison<\/strong> was Champion in the <strong>Open Equitation<\/strong> and <strong>Maggie Dennis<\/strong> was Reserve. <strong>Vivian Keller<\/strong> was <strong>Reserve Ch<\/strong>ampion in the <strong>15 and under Equitation<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Diane Laycoe<\/strong> won\u00a0an <strong>Adult Equitation<\/strong> class and <strong>Colleen<\/strong> won the <strong>USEF Talent\u00a0Search<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Country Classic was a beautiful event this year.
